The Flats and Handwashing Challenge: Day 6

The Flats and Handwashing Challenge continues and Day 6 has been all about fun folds with flats (try saying that 5 times fast! Haha!) If you're new and just coming in on this challenge, you can head over to Dirty Diaper Laundry and read the Rules to find out more about what's going on.

I thought that I would try a new fold today! Swaddlebees calls this the Kite Fold, but I've seen it called the Neat Fold elsewhere. Either way, it was really easy to do and it fit little man very nicely. Here's a little photo tutorial of how I did the Modified Kite Fold/Neat Fold:

KITE FOLD - this is a simple way to fold the diaper for bigger babies about 6 months or older

Ta-daaa!

I also practiced the Diaper Bag Fold some more and here's a little look at how I do it:

I also played around with the Origami fold today and had fun testing out different ways to add absorbancy by adding a pad fold to the inside of the fold. I also added a pad fold on the inside of the Diaper Bag Fold for nap-time and when we went out for the morning to the Farmer's Market! I am happy to say that by Day 6, we have only had 2 leaks! I am have been so surprised at how absorbent flats are and how adjustable they are for different absorbancy levels. I definitely had fun folding my flats today and feeling like I was confident enough to adjust and "tweak" the fold a little to fit around little man's little legs a bit better. One tip I read was to roll the wings a little as you were fastening the wings around their waist and I found that that really helped get a snug fit.
We had another sunny and breezey day and I was able to get the diapers washed and hung outside before we left for the Farmer's Market this morning! Yay! I love the smell of clean laundry when it comes in from the fresh air outside...nothing can beat that smell!

How is the Challenge going for you? What fun (or not so fun) things are you doing for Day 6?
