I was so happy when I got the opportunity to do a review and giveaway with Skoy Cloth. I was very eager to try something that could possibly become my alternative to paper towels. I use paper towels for everything- cleaning up spills, as napkins, cleaning the bathroom...etc. *Sigh* I over-use them, I know, but they are so convenient. Well, when the opportunity came along to review Skoy Cloths, I gave myself a mini challenge- to stop using paper towels for everything! Not only are they so expensive, but I feel very wasteful when I use them and very not green.
The Skoy Cloth is not only fun and colorful to use in place of paper towels, but it is also fabulously absorbent, 100% biodegradable and a natural, earth-friendly, multi-purpose cloth! The Skoy Cloth is a sturdy re-usable cloth that is perfect to use in the kitchen, bathroom, or on any other surface you can think of! It can be used in place of your sponge or paper towels and it really does work like a charm- it really has some amazing scrubbing power.
The Skoy Cloth is biodegradable, made from a natural cotton and wood-based cellulose pulp, they have used water-based colors and inks and the Skoy Cloth will completely break down from being composted in 5 weeks! While it is biodegradable, it is also very durable and will last for months in an average home. This can replace the use of up to 15 rolls of paper towels! Wow! Not only is the Skoy Cloth better for the environment, it is better for you budget too!
I also think that the Skoy Cloth is very unique because it is so cleanable. It dries quickly (in place of that wet sponge hanging out growing who-knows-what as its own petri dish), it can be microwaved when wet , put in the dishwasher, or cleaned in the washer and dryer!
So, what did I think about the Skoy Cloth?!?
Well, after using the multi-colored 4-pack of Skoy Cloths that were generously sent to me to try out, I have to say that I really, really love using them in place of paper towels for cleaning! When I first opened the package, I though that colors and flower design were cute and cheerful.
The cloth is very stiff and a little rough when it is dry. It softened right up as I ran it under the water!
I rung it out and used it to clean my kitchen counter-top and then scrub my stove top. It cleaned the counter so well! It absorbed the spills and kept the debris neatly in the cloth and it did wonders on my stove-top! I was very surprised at how much liquid it could actually hold and I really loved that it could be used for a long period of time before I needed to wring it out again. I can't even imagine how many paper towels I would have used to clean my counter and stove! I also designated one of the cloths to be a floor cleaning cloth and another to be a bathroom cleaning cloth. When I cleaned the kitchen floor, it was almost effortless wiping to clean and I really didn't have to use much elbow grease to get the floors looking shiny and spotless! It also did a fabulous job cleaning up my bathroom. I am really impressed with how easy they are to use and what a good job they do with cleaning. I am one happy mama with my Skoy Cloths within easy reach of messes around the house!
Now, I can't say that I have completely eliminated the use of paper towels since I have gotten my Skoy Cloths. I still have paper towels in the house, but I definitely am not burning through my rolls any more! Slowly but surely I am greening my home! I have even gotten some compliments on them- my mom was visiting and she really liked how well they cleaned and how cute they were. I'm thinking that they would make some cute Christmas gifts- especially in their fun packaging!

A Skoy cloth will last as long as 15 rolls of paper towels! They are also dishwasher safe so they won't hold onto germs.

WoW! I learned that Skoy Cloth is 100% Biodegradable! It is also really durable and it is NOT a breeding ground for bacteria! You can microwave these cloths to kill the bacteria and you can also put them in the dishwasher/washer/dryer!
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome and I would love to have them! I have recently been buying napkins to help reduce the use of paper towels because we don't usually need to use such a huge piece and it seems like a waste. Plus its been saving me money on paper towels too. But ultimately, like you, I would love to try and mostly replace them with reusable cloths and it would be a wonderful change from stinking sponges that I have to throw out every couple weeks!

"Keep your SKOY cloth germ-free by microwaving it daily when damp for 1-2 minutes. This will also remove possible bad smell that is caused by bacteria." Ha! I never thought of that! Wonder if that works for sponges and dishcloths?
